From my experience the well drillers look at the local well records first to see what they are getting into. What are the well depths in your area?

The way I look at hiring an expert is I am paying for their experience, their tools, their equipment and their labour. My well is 180 feet deep, the first 50 feet is sand, the rest is rock.

Treat this as a great learning experience!

We had property in Northern Wisconsin and it was all
sand so I drove a sand point 50 feet and had good water
and I drove the point by hand then used a pump to pump
it off.

Wow! A 4 year old thread and people still giving suggestions..... I would think he has a well by now.... at least hope so....
