Does anyone have, or know if you can get telescopic adjusters to replace the turnbuckles on the 2800/3400? Does anyone have them on their 2800/3400? Could you post a pic. If they are available, my only concern would be tire clearance. I have R4s and the turnbuckles only have about an inch clearance to the tires on Cat 1 attachements with the pins facing out. The turnbuckles will rub the tires if you don't have it adjusted nice and snug and in the center. I have the pins turned in on all of my attachments except my blade. Its and old blade and the pins are rusted in place. so I can't turn them in.

You must have the rims adjusted for a narrow wheel base, I have plenty of clearance on my tractor. All of my attachment use the same adjustments so once I set the turnbuckle length it's done. I haven't changed them since I put the Pat,s easy changers on.

The R4s have no rim adjustment, atleast mine don't. I'll post a pic in a few minutes.

Here is a pic of the space issues I am talking about. Notice that if the turnbuckle was not verticle like it is, it would almost rub the tire. Not much room between the fender and tire either, about an inch. I don't think I could put chains on if I wanted too. I believe there is a wheel spacer kit I could get, but it ain't cheap. Anyway, this is the only attachement that is a problem with as I have the pins turned in on my others. I'm just wondering if the telescopic adjusters will work on this tractor and not rub the tires, if they are available at all on this model.

Notice the white sealant from where the dealer changed my 3pt lift valve...I've got to get that painted.

That's a close fit. My rims can be taken apart and remounted for a wide wheel base, my tires are only half covered by the fenders.

That's strange I have a L2800 with R4s and mine are not that close with any of my implements 2"-3" avg, my rake & middle buster has pins and everything else is capture type and I can't remember what the clearances were with my rake on, I had the middle buster on a couple of weeks ago and don't recall it being that close.

There is three inches of difference in length between the 3130 and the 3400 link which would mean a modification on one end or the other to make it fit but depending on what width of attachment you are using it still maybe fine.

Did you loose your hammer? I know where it is.

I used the hammer to bump my clevis in place.:)

With the blade I have hooked up in the pic, the pins are the standard Cat 1 with 26" spread to the pins. If I could turn the pins inward, I would gain 2 - 3" on each side, but they are rusted in place. I suppose I could saw the pins off and get new ones.

I would suggest a torch if you have it, those pins are pretty hard.

I checked again and they way the blade is set up, I can't turn the pins inward anyway.

There just isn't much room to hook up to 26" implements with these R4s. One dealer recommended the wheel spacer kit because of this, but I didn't get them. I think they added 1.5" to each side. I think I will call tractorsmart and see how much they are.

Cutoff wheel or torch will make short work of them. Pins are cheap.

Can you swap sides with wheels, maybe that will give more room? Put right wheel on left side, left on right.

That won't work with the R4 rims.

I called tractorsmart. There is a telescopic stabizer kit for the L2800/3400 - $150. Problem is, they won't work if you have R4s because they will likely rub on the wheels. There is a wheel spacer kit to solve this problem - $150 also. The dealer I talked to said they sold all their 2800/3400s with the wheel spacer kits intalled on tractors with R4s. So, I think I will spring for the wheel spacers after Christmas, then the stablizers come Spring time. Those spacers are going to be a pain to install since my tires are loaded. I will have to figure out a way to jack the tire up.

I would put the tractor on jack stands high enough so you can get a floor jack under the tire and if you can get a helper to keep it from rolling off the floor jack that would be benificial.

How about something like this. Take a piece of angle iron and drill holes to attatch at holes on bottom of ROPS(?) mount with a piece of iron welded in place with a hole in it for clevis to mount to, thereby moving your attatchment point in (adjust for however much room you have) by a couple inches. Cheap fix. Maybe.

I too was shocked at how little space I had when I tried to put on a set of chains. Not enough room to get the chains in safely between the tire and fender.

Some have said that the rims can be set wider but I haven't checked into it yet.

I'm going to try the first winter without chains. Won't be a problem at this rate - there's no snow around yet!

I know this is an old thread but I was wondering how the author made out with this project. I have r4's on my 2800 and very little clearance between the tires and the turnbuckles. If you have part numbers that would be great. Thanks

Derek

I got 1" spacers - Part# L8787 I believe. That 1" on each side helped out a lot. Still don't know about clearance for installing the telescoping stabilizers. I was hoping someone else would have gotten this upgrade, but I don't know of anyone on TBN that has this option on their 2800/3400.

In the Kubota book they have L-8430 which is stabilizers for L-series. Thses are the standard ones for a L-4400. Retail, 149.
