Without reading back over all of it, are you pinning your stabilizers before trying to lock the slides in? I'd try leaving them unpinned and pin them after they slide in.

No, I leave the stabilizers unpinned until everything is hooked up

On our L3830 I usually just lift the 3 point and they drop into place. Sometimes I have to push the bushhog back and forth, but its not a big deal.

Same here. I lift the three point on order to center the implement and put the pins in the sway bars. Thats when I pop the lift arms back into place.
