Well bummer.....My 6 month old, 150 hr, TC55DA just pooped out on me this weekend. With no warning at all the clutch return spring broke leaving my clutch pedal hanging down. After investigating further, looks like the clutch cable is extended out and won't retract either. The clutch is dis-engaged or in other words as if the clutch is pushed down when otherwise working. I know little if nothing about this clutch. It appears to me to have an extremely small clutch cable going into what may be some kind of slave cylinder. Is this a hydraulic clutch like a car/truck??? I had a fun time getting this thing on the trailer to get it 200 miles back to my dealer at home. I had it at my lake property working it. Tomorrow my gooseneck trailer will have a new winch installed on it. Guys you don't wanna have your wife pull you up on that trialer with a chain and the ole dump truck in granny gear!!!! Trust me, it's an experience not worth the $500 for a new winch!!!! Geezzzz, all i told her was to put it in granny.....she said "what's that"???? I just told her it's like your jeep, just put her in 1st......big mistake!!!! Anyway it got up there......I'll check with the dealer tomorrow and hope they can tell me something and i'll keep you guys informed. Maybe somebody knows what the problem is.

Update......Just got off the phone with the NH dealer and i'm not real sure they know what they're talking about. He said the clutch pedal spring broke and caused the clutch cable to be stretched so it needs the pedal return spring and a new clutch cable which of course he had to order. ????? This doesn't make sense to me......I think something internally went haywire. Their theory might make sense if the tractor was hung with the clutch engaged but its not......it's as if the clutch pedal is depressed....there is no pressure keeping the clutch cable from being retracted back up in there so to me a stretched or even broken cable should cause the clutch to be engaged not disengaged..... ???????? I hope this isn't a case of dealer guessing......Dang, where are all the real mechanics these days?????? You'd think the dealers would have them!!!

The TC55DA has an inching pedal, not a clutch pedal. There is no clutch but that inching pedal operates a pressure relieve valve. After reading your post I crwled under mine and made extra a picture for you. I bet a spring will fix your problem. Hold that inching pedal up and jam something in the back, then you can at least drive it. I have about 145 hours now on mine. Good Luck! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Boy, enlighten me more!!!! An "inching" pedal??? I've heard that somewhere before.......so the EHSS does NOT have a clutch inside it???? This then is NOT a so to speak "standard transmission" as such??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif It sure operates like a clutch....ie: push it down, the tractor stops, you can change gears then or rear axle Range etc....let it up, everything goes. Hummmmm, please educate me!!!!!

Are you sure there is no clutch in the driveline of the TC55. I have a 2120 with the HSS trans and I've had the conventional clutch replaced once. What does the rod at the right end fo the clutch pedal jackshaft go to?
