Hello,
I've been lurking here a little but this is my first post. I came across this forum when I was trying to figure out why my new New Holland TC40DA smoked excessively at high power. I thought that I would post the solution for anyone else who might google the same problem. Mine had very low hours and would intermittently smoke at high power. I'd open the hood to check it out and it would stop smoking. It took me a while (too long) to figure out that the weather stripping on the hood that curls around the radiator was hanging loose and would get sucked against the air cleaner inlet when I advanced the throttle.

Thanks for posting your solution. Information like this is one of the great things about TBN. Don't think I would have thought of that as a possible cause!

You should be warned that this is a dangerous place. I'm on every day looking for new projects or solutions to my current problems. I've even started to believe I can do all kinds of things, learning as I go from a great bunch of people.

I think you are lucky to have figured that out at all. I'd say that was a great job of troubleshooting.

I know this fellow who put his inner air filter in backwards and blocked the intake completely...

Had to say thanks also for posting a possible future problem of my own. I love these guys that take the time to post solutions when they figure them out!!!

Last time I checked under the hood I noticed that the foam was loose so I just stuck it back up in place and shut the hood. Well guess I'll be taking some double sided tape to it now!
