Hello Everyone,

I searched for a similar tractor for about 3 months this fall and winter and finally bought a TC35DA w/load 2 days before Christmas (Merry Christmas to me!)

It is a 2005 with 474 hours. Always maintained and was a 1 owner. The owner developed a medical condition and had to sell most of his equipment. In any case I felt it was a good deal and many thanks to some folks from this site with recommendations and guidance during that process.

I have used to to move round bales at my place more than anything an haul manure. during the summer months I will be used for Raking and tedding hay on about 50 acres yearly. and moving round bales from the field to the barn.

However I do have another question. what size of Soil Plow is right for this unit. I have good to very good soil conditions. not alot of rock and generally not claylike or hard.

I will be plowing about 5 to no more than 10 acres of field this year to replant and wanted to try this unit out to see how it does plowing a little.

Is a 2 bottom as much as I want to try? 3 bottom? 14", 16? etc.

Anyone out there using this model for this type of work?

I will be installing NH wheel weighs on it in the spring. I do not have any extra weight in it at this time. The wheel weights I think will add around 400 lbs when installed.

Thanks

I think the combination of R4 tires (industrials) and HST transmission will make plowing with a 2-bottom more pleasant. You might be able to use a 3-bottom in your soil as you describe it, but you'll surely be able to use a 2-14 or 2-16. I used a 2-bottom in some unplowed soil that had lots of clay and it was plenty for my TC45D. I have never tried a 3-bottom, so I can't give you solid info on that. How about using a disc instead of a plow? Is there some reason you want to plow down deep? After you run the plow, you will have to come back with a disc or harrow to smooth it out. You might have a lot easier job just using a disc to begin with.

well this area has some weeds and My hope was to give it a good turnover to help combat some of that. if that even would work...

This was a worked field but not for about 10 years I would guess so its been awhile.

Thanks

Traction is the big factor with plowing HP is not as important as one might assume. Wheel weights are good. loaded tires. ag treads. Remove the FEL for more downforce on back wheels. Post back.

I've got a tc40d and a 2 bottom/16 is all it can handle in my soil. Soil is VERY rocky and red clay. This is pretty hard soil and I have to turn it before running the disc over it. Traction isn't a problem for me since the engine will die if I hit extremely hard going. Constantly feathering the plow up/down. If I were back in Illinois I could probably get away with a 3 bottom but the soil composition is drastically different.

IMHO -- for the amount of plowing you're going to do, hire a local farmer to come in and turn it. The field next to me is about 15 acres and he comes in with this HUGE J.D. with bat wing disc and he's done in less than 2 hrs. For your 5-10 acres with a 2 bottom, well, you're gonna be at it for some time.

Hope all works out for you and have a great day,
