TC35D PTO brake

/ TC35D PTO brake #21
Jinman......that's the correct diagram. When the mechanic delivered the tractor back to me yesterday afternoon he told me the "shaft", probably part number 8, snapped in half. He speculated that the medium duty rotary cutter I was using had the slip clutch adjusted to tight resulting in too much force being transfered back via the PTO to the tranny if something was hit. The cutter is 5 mos old and was adjusted at the factory and checked by the dealer, I'm told. No charge for the repair just a loss of seat time. The lesson appears to be finding the "magic' release point for the clutch on the cutter. I asked him about a slip clutch for the PTO. He felt that it would not help and he didn't recommend one. Seems from the look of this thread that there are differing opinion's by the NH mechanic's out there on the use of a slip clutch to protect the tranny. I wonder what NH says?
