The tractor started out with creep in both directions. Roller is cleaned and lightly lubed. Greasable fittings are all greased. I marked the concentric nut and began adjustments.
1. Started very small adjustments counterclockwise and got the reverse creep to stop, then kept on going in that direction, but no change in the forward creep.
2. Returned the nut to my second mark with no reverse creep and headed the other direction. Reverse creep returned, but no change in the excessive front creep.
3. Increased spring tension and started the process again with no change in either direction.
4. Increased spring tension all the way...same thing. Lots of forward creep and no creep when adjusted to my second mark.
5. Tried BIG swings in the concentric nut, but still only able to stop reverse creep at the second mark.
Through a search I came up with this thread http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-owning-operating/31792-hst-just-wont-stop-quit-6.html . Looking at the photos, it looks like I have the original "light" spring.
So, do you folks think that the (modified) heavier spring will make the difference...or am I missing something? The thread also mentions a new (modified) bracket. Can anyone tell me the difference between the old and new (modified) brackets? Seems to me if the springs are close to the same length that would be plenty of room for adjustment without installing the new bracket.
