The tractor started out with creep in both directions. Roller is cleaned and lightly lubed. Greasable fittings are all greased. I marked the concentric nut and began adjustments.

1. Started very small adjustments counterclockwise and got the reverse creep to stop, then kept on going in that direction, but no change in the forward creep.
2. Returned the nut to my second mark with no reverse creep and headed the other direction. Reverse creep returned, but no change in the excessive front creep.
3. Increased spring tension and started the process again with no change in either direction.
4. Increased spring tension all the way...same thing. Lots of forward creep and no creep when adjusted to my second mark.
5. Tried BIG swings in the concentric nut, but still only able to stop reverse creep at the second mark.

Through a search I came up with this thread http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-owning-operating/31792-hst-just-wont-stop-quit-6.html . Looking at the photos, it looks like I have the original "light" spring.

So, do you folks think that the (modified) heavier spring will make the difference...or am I missing something? The thread also mentions a new (modified) bracket. Can anyone tell me the difference between the old and new (modified) brackets? Seems to me if the springs are close to the same length that would be plenty of room for adjustment without installing the new bracket.

I think the heavier spring will make the difference. There has to be a point where the forward and reverse are nulled. Your roller's bearing might not be completely rolling into the null grove on the "B" plate. It could be your damper shock behind the "B" plate too. It could be binding just enough to hold the transmission input shaft a tiny bit off null. I'd sure try the stiffer spring first.

Thanks Jim. I'll change the spring and go from there.

I'm also experiencing a lag in reverse. It's worse in high range and also if I'm having to back up an incline. It starts out slow and then kinda "take's off" like it should. Don't know if they're related.

The one thing I can think of to check would be if the bracket is tight going into the transmission. My bracket with two bolts was poorly welded and broke off from the shaft. Yours could be loose or have some slop on the square boss going into the transmission. There are two bolts that hold the bracket tight on the square shaft boss. If they are loose, you'll never get your adjustment done and you could definitely be seeing lag in reverse because of this. A photo is attached.

Thanks Jim. As you know, I have a bigger issue going on right now, but I'll check it out when I get the tractor back.

And thanks for the help today. Looks it the pump, but I'll know for sure tomorrow. We had fun getting a dead tractor on the trailer...pics on my photo thread.
