New Holland TC33D
Hello All

About six months ago my TC33D died in a bad spot and with the forums help I was able to narrow it down to a bad fuel shut off solenoid. Since then I have gone through 4 more solenoids. At first I thought it was just cheap Chinese solenoids, but now I am wondering what else could be burning them up, and they are really hot. I have had them last 30 min or a few days, but every tractor will die I have to unscrew the solenoid a little to get it to start then screw it in to stop it.

Have 12v at wire to solenoid, don't know what else it could be.

Thanks for any help
John

Not sure I know much either but does it have a relay so there's only 12 v to activate it ?

I thought some systems are set up to initially pull with higher voltage and drop back to maintain. I can't remember if the TC33D is that way....my 1999 tc33d still had the original solenoid as of last year.

Are the solenoids themselves going bad? Or are you blowing the fuse for that circuit?

I just got done fixing a similar issue on my RK24. My symptoms were that it randomly shut off. It would start, but wouldn't run for more than 1 second before it would shut off again.
I saw that the fuse was blown, so I replaced it. It ran for 20 minutes and blew the fuse and shut off again. Same symptoms.

On mine, the solenoid has 3 wires, ground, "pull" coil positive, and "hold" coil positive.
The way it works, when I turn the key, the pull coil is energized (pulls about 30A) and pulls the solenoid back.
After 1 second elapses, a timer shuts off the pull coil and energizes the hold coil, which only draws .7A, as it takes much less energy to hold the solenoid back than it does to get it pulled back.
They switch from one coil to the other so as to not burn up the solenoid and/or waste power.

My issue turned out to be a (very small) short in the wire for the hold coil circuit. It would vibrate and touch the frame and blow the fuse. That's why it would only run for 1 second and shut back off, because the pull coil was still working as it should.

Don't know if any of this info is pertinent to your issue, but I figured I'd share my experience. Good luck! Electrical issues can be hard to track down.

Just a single wire to the solenoid 12vdc.

Once it dies it is dead, solenoid it very hot, but even when it cools off it does not function. Have went through at least 4 of these over the last 6 months, really thought this one was going to last.

Fuse does not blow.

Please keep the ideas coming

I have no problem spending the $112 if I knew it was going to work, but this looks identical to the one that is in there now. Everyone so far has been exactly the same length and diameter. Some of the ones I have purchased on Amazon I have been able to return, I afraid that from NH there would be no returns since it is an electrical item.

Thx

This solenoid RETRACTS when energized, I can manually shut off the tractor by unscrewing it til the tractor stops.

The only comment I could make, would be reiterating what has been said, i.e. check the wiring, check the fuse, check the install methods.

In 2018 I replaced a Fuel Solenoid on my Mahindra 2014 Max28, an easy task that just takes time.
I got almost four years out of the OEM Unit, replaced with an aftermarket 5-star unit (probably made in the same company in China) and now waiting to have it happen again.

Good Luck with your investigation into the cause, electrical problems are a PITA, but grounding always works it way in !
