Blow out radiator w/ air, then with water. Ran it 50 yards or so, and felt radiator. It was cold, then all of a sudden the thermostat opened and I could feel it getting hot.

I have ordered new air cleaners, and I will get some radiator flush to try.

Not sure about the TC29, but my TC45 NH calls for annual coolant changes.
I am sure they do. Now I am dealing with an old 1700 that is 40 years old. I think one or two years replacement is an overkill. My brand new kubota never lost a drop of antifreeze and looks as clean as they one. I have not used it hard and long either and used it basically for loader work. I don't think i have strong need or desire to flush my kubota yet. OEM fluids are usually top notch.

It sounds like your thermostat could use a bleed (vent) hole. Does it have one?

A non contact temp gun is about $20 on amazon. I would buy one. It's cheaper than changing the thermostat. You should be measuring at the temp sensor for the gauge.
I would also measure each radiator hose. You want to see the radiator drop the temp.
