3rd picture..........I tried lower air pressure and wide sweeping turns but the bite is still there. If you live within 200 miles of me and want R-4s I'll trade for turfs.......My tires have 4 hours on them.......TOM

Looks like you have some exceptionally soft ground (compared to what I'm accustomed to anyway). I never left anything close to that much track even mowing with ag tires.

I don't get ruts near that bad. With my TC29D I do have to make sure it is dry when mowing. But my big problem is more to a new yard. No root growth yet. My neighbor has a JD 955 which I would think weighs about the same as my 29 and he has turf tires and he will leave ruts in my lawn also. I am thinking more and more the weight of the tractor is key. Not so much the tire.

My dad has a 1957 Ford 861 that weighs a lot more than my 29 with regular tractor tires and he leaves no marks in his lawn, but it is well established.

Well.. looks like you have a mess for sure... let me say My brother in-law has R-4s and they don't do that bad on the Ohio Clay he has... maybe your soil just needs to dry up... ALTHOUGH.... I must say I have like my brother in-law and you a TC33D with TURF and they are much nicer on the lawn. I don't dig up as much as his does on sharp turns.. WE both have SS on the tractors....

Before I'd spend $$$ on turf tires I would want to confirm that turfs would not leave marks, too. While the tractor's weight will be spread out over a larger surface area with turfs, given how soft your ground appears, you may not be any happier with them. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This is one of the reason I kept my Wheel Horse Garden Tractor, i.e., mowing when the ground is too soft for my TC25D. It's also why I have been questioning myself as to why I bought a MMM in the first place! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ohiobeefarmer,

It is interesting for you to say that your turfs don't do as much damage as the R4's on turns. When I was searching for a tractor my dealer talked me into the R4's. I told him my concerns with my lawn and he told me to come outside. He told me that turf's are better for a lawn overall but not on turns. He took one of his TC18D with turf's and a TC24D with R4's which I ended up buying. But he took both tractors out on the yard and made really sharp turns with both of them. I didn't believe it. The turfs' ripped the grass up much more than the R4's. If I didn't see it I wouldn't have believed it. I then got confused and went out on the web and found a page that explained the exact same thing. That is when I decided the R4's would be best for me. I really wished I could find that web page again so I could post it here. My neighbors John Deere 955 with turfs will also leave dents in my yard. I am thinking my problem is the fact that I don't have good root growth yet and hopefully aerating will help develope that.

But I do have to admit that I wished I did have the turf's for mowing, but for brush hoggin on my hills using my neighbors tractor the first year I just slipped around too much with the turfs. Even ifn 4 wheel. The R4's made a major difference. In fact I don't even need to put it in 4 wheel.

Shoppin,

I guess I see I got a typo. That comparison was with an 18 and a 21.

I did actually buy a 21 first. Got it home, used it for about a year and after just about tipping it over a couple of times I took it back in and got a TC29D. With my hills I just wanted something more stable. I felt way too uncomfortable with the 21

How about just putting turfs on the front? Especially since they mount on the same rims as the R4's! (unlike the rears).
I tried without success to find someone to trade their turfs for my R4's. Now I think I'll try the turfs on the front, since that's the only problem I get.
