This winter when it was really cold my hydraulics started getting real slow and jerky. Then 2 times when it was cold they wouldn't work at all. I read posts on TBN about water in the fluid, figured that was the problem. It finally got warm enough and I changed the fluid and the filter. this is a gear model so only one filter. The hydraulics work, but they are squeaky and jerky on the loader and the 3 pt. The squeaking seems to be coming from right under the joystick. I worked the loader and 3 pt several times, thought that might bleed the system if it needed it. Also the loader squeaks more going up and curling back. Is there something else that needs cleaning? I bought this tractor used and it worked fine until the weather got cold. It makes the same sound when I work the 3 pt.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you determine if the sound is from the relief valve?

If you use two different valves and the sound is the same, and if the loader is first valve, the relief could be the cause.

If the relief valve is squealing, there is a reason. Could be cold fluid. Something is blocking the flow.

I ran the loader and the 3 pt to the max to activate the relief valve and it is a totally different sound. The sound I hear when using either hydraulic is not a high pitched squeal but more like a groan. Pump? is there a screen somewhere?

Some tanks have a screen. If so, remove, check, clean.

That groan could be a cavitation sound where the pump is starving for fluid.

I will look for a screen and clean it. Thanks J.J.

I have the service/repair manual for this tractor with exploded views of everything and there is no screens shown anywhere. Could there be a blockage in the suction tube or is it possible it is getting foreign air from somewhere?
