I have a 1977 case 580k backhoe. All my forward shuttle gears went out. I could still tool around in reverse until recently when that went out also? My fluid levels are fine. Does this sound like a torque converter problem?? Right now this is a really big paper weight. Any suggestions to get started. ---TRG

Welcome to TBN.

While I can't answer your specific question, it would seem that you probably should have addressed this problem quite some time ago as to avoid more expensive repairs.

G'day and :welcome:, it sounds to me like you need to rebuild the reverser unit, I dont think the t/c would allow you reverse and not forward. It is not a bad job to do it is mounted behind the engine and will drop out the bottom, no need to split the machine.
