Taking the tractor for a test drive

So it looks like I am going to head out this weekend or the next to take a look at the Case IH C50 and had some questions. I am buying from a shop, not an individual and was wondering what are some things that experienced tractor buyers know already.

For example:

Can I hook something up to it and get a feel for how it would work in the field?
What should I look for as a sign that regular maintenance was performed?
What are some tell tale signs to stay away?
Is there much room in the price?

How many hours on hour meter.
Check for fluid leaks..tranny,engine, axle seals, etc.
Drive and try feel for thumping and odd noises.
If fel attach put it thru the paces.
Ask the seller any question you may have..any.
