Taking a bushhog off the 3 pt hitch

I am having trouble getting the bushhog off my B3030 3 pt hitch. The ball hitch that slides over the attachment pin on the bushhog is stuck solid to the pin. The swingarms are loose, and there is no pressure on the ball / pin. How is the best way to get the ball hitch loose?

You did not mention how long it has been since you last took the bush hog off. If it is not rusted to the pin, I'd just give it a few solid whacks with a big hunk of wood or sledge hammer to persuade it to let go. If it were possibly rusted then use some penetrating oil for a day and then move to the whacking strategy.

I use a rubber mallet to whack at the hitch arms so as not scratch the paint.

You are going to have to beat it off there with whatever it takes, depending on how stuck it is. I'd be more concerned about why it's stuck?? Maybe you have bent the pin??

Might be rusted on if hasn't been taken off for a while. Try WD-40 or similar penetrating oil first. Then place stout piece of wood on lift arm and hit it with a sledge. If it doesn't come off, try bigger sledge.

If you can't beat it off with a bigger sledge, you can always cut the pin with a fire axe and drive it out then. New pins are not real expensive.

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but have you taken the sway pins out of the sway links? When dealing with a new piece of equipment, there can be a lot of new things to look at.
