Tachometer Displays Lower RPM\'s When Lights On

Hello Forum,

I've noticed lately, that the Tachometer on my 224, displays a lower RPM, when the lights are on. Has anybody else experienced this?

Thanks &
Have a nice day,
Joe

Check your wiring,,a poor connection may be interfering with "good"voltage getting to the tack.(hence the lower reading with the lights on) I found at the key switch there was some poorly soldered wires onto the terminals. Also Jinma does use what seems like minimal size wires so there's no reserve for bad connections. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hey Mark,

Thanks Mark, I've got about 120 hours on mine now, and it is about time for some of the wiring connections to work loose. I will start to look over the wiring connections.

Thanks again,

Hey Chris,

I seem to always be trying to squeeze out the last of the Sun Light on my little projects, and the lights come in pretty handy after the Sun Goes Down. I was box blading and needed all the power that the little engine had. I looked down at the tack and it was only in the 1600 range. I was trying to get more RPM's, but the pedal was on the Floor. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, Chris, my 224 is a little tractor, but for my size place it is doing a good job, but I push it to the max quiet often.

Although if I had had the extra 1k for the 254, I would have done it, but on the other hand, if I had, then I would have been disappointed that I missed out on the Kama 354C that was being sold for 6K.

I've got about 120 hours on the little 224 now, and if it keeps running, I will probably have about 200 hours on it before next year.

I need to get a rear 3ph scoop, but have been wondering what size would be best for the 224.

Have a nice day,

Is this typical? I would have thought it would run in the 2400 to 2600 rpm range at full throttle.

Hey Brent,

The upper end of the green zone on the tack is about 2300. But when the lights were on yesterday, the tack was only reading about 1600 at full throttle. When I turned the lights off, then the tack read correctly.

Mine will rev above the green zone a little bit, but I try to keep it in the green zone if possible, when I am working the tractor to the max.

Have a nice day,

Sounds good to me. All my old 6v tractors have lamps.. including the JD-B with massive 7 amp generator... because it has a magneto, you can actually run the lamps tillthey go orange, then completely die... I've heard stories of many a farmer driving an old A or B home with orange or no lamps at sunset....

It's not uncommonto see me out working on my farm by headlamps, either my truck, or a tractor.. etc.

Reading the entire post would have filled you in on the rpms.
