I've got a 2230 I'd like to put a tach on. Since this is diesel, how does one measure revs? Impulses on injectors? (if so, how?). Mechanical (like my 30 yr. old Ford truck)? I know larger tractors have tachs so how is it accomplished?

Thanks,

There are a number of ways to pick up a signal from a Diesel Engine.

Some hook up to the alternator, some to a Crank Sensor.

Buy a good quality Unit and the instructions will be there.

I had looked at tiny tach years ago for a gas water irrigation pump. I didn't even think of them for this application. It seems to be the simplest one out there. So it does measure, or count the impulses on the injector line. Neat.
