put a new tach sensor on my 284Jinma,put it on did not register, screwed it in a little further and the tach reads and the hour meter works. The problem is the tach meter don't seem to read right,is ther anyway to calibrate. Thanks Slammer

If the sensor is a generic type, they are usually screwed in until it touches the flywheel and then backed out about 3/4 turn and locked there. I expect Tommy at Affordable might chime in on this. My comments are based on adjusting/setting up other tachs.
If your tach is like the one on my Jinma, there is a plug that connects to the harness on the tractor - make sure it is properly connected.

We use this TIF TIF785 Infrared Photo tachometer, to adjust ours, however if you don't want to spend a $ 150.00 for one, you need to screw the sensor in until it touch's and back out 3/4 turn as Jim suggested. You should be close to the correct RPM. Otherwise you will need to get a meter or see if someone has one you can borrow
