I washed my new to me CK4010 yesterday. I used a low power, electric pressure washer to conserve water (we're on a well) When I was done I drove it around for 30 minutes just trying everything out and there were no issues. Today, I pulled it into my shop and serviced the front diff, engine oil, hydro oil, greased everything, etc. Started it up and the tach reads way high and when I shut it down the tach only returns to about half way on the gauge. The gauge cycle on power up starts at half way and runs the needle way past 6 O'clock on the gauge and returns to about half way. The gauge needle moves normally, it's just reading about twice what it should. Any ideas? Must have been water getting into something it doesn't like. Anyone else seen this?

thanks

Problem is resolved. Removed the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and when I reconnected it, the tach returned to normal.

Phew!

Biggziff, congratulations on the fix, and your new rig!

Curious what led you to try the battery disconnect? That's not something I would have thought of trying right away. I probably would have let everything sit overnight while I worried about it.

Thanks! Did my first paying job with it this afternoon. Brush-hogging a neighbor's field that hasn't been cut in 3-4 years.

Since the tach is an electronic device, something was holding it at the mid-point that wasn't mechanical so I figured I'd kill the power and see if it would reset things. Bingo! Good to go.
