New Holland T1520
Bought new T1520 and dealer did not stand behind this tractor and was dishonest about the warranty. It now has only 88 hours with a rebuilt motor and the noise in the engine still comes and goes. Worked hard and saved for many years only to have my dream tractor turn into a nightmare. Now we are looking for a similar tractor, but not sure what's good and what's not. Some NH dealers have told me it was the same tractor from 20 years ago and others, including a NH rep, have said that only the sheet metal is the same. Dazed and confused about the compact tractor scene. It is the perfect tractor for what I need, but sounds horrible. I'm looking for something similar and would like some opinions and suggestions before I try to figure out my next purchase! Thanks all!

Ford/New Holland models 1720 or 1920. Older but very reliable.

Have you considered a John Deere 3E tractor? These are very nice machines, my grandpa got a 3032E a few months back and it is a pretty good little tractor. The 3005 also is a very good unit. Previously known as the 790, Deere sold a LOT of these tractors and they hold up to their name very well and are made to do some serious work. But the 3005 is a gear tractor, so if hydrostatic is preferred than I would opt to look at a 3032E. Kubota also makes some nice tractors. Their B3200 and new B3000 are also very nice tractors. I have tried out a B3300SU and it is a beast of a machine. Strong hydraulics on the FEL, great backhoe capacity, very nice tractor.:)

Sorry to hear about your problems,

I dont know but are these 3 cyl engines used on more than the new holland line?

I am at thirty hours, not sure I would hear a problem in the diesel engine, they all sound clankly to me.

My deal was good and replace some lines that were not exactly right for a new machine. But missed one of the lines and has not fixed a small leak from the quick disconnect hydro line to FEL yet.

My T1520 has been stone reliable and sounds like a 35hp diesel 3' in front of my ears should sound. If you have another NH dealer close by and since the tractor is perfect for your needs, I would suggest another T1520.

I have thought about going with another NH T1520, but quite honestly, I question how long NH will actually be NH since they are owned by Fiat now. I see many dealers with less and less inventory, while others are full. I have also heard of a few NH dealers closing their doors and it doesn't seem as though they are too concered about their product line. Wouldn't it make the most sense for them to try to keep their customers happy? Its still kind of up in the air but I'm thinking along the lines of another brand. Kubota, Massey, or John Deere are what comes to mind.... However, I am glad to hear your T1520 is running good! Thanks for the thoughts.

I have always heard great things about John Deere. Just thought they were a little out of reach $$..... Are the prices now comparable to the other tractors? Or maybe it is worth the extra $$? If I had known I'm the first place, I would have originally bought the Kubota 38 hp, but went with NH because I was told the T1520 was the same as old reliable 1920, which apparently is not the case here. I did hear (rumor?) that the 1920 is now produced by Farmtec.... Any thoughts?? Thank you for your reply.

First off i think you mean FarmTrac not Farmtec which it doesnt mater because they went out of business last year as a company. people thought that they were the ones still making Ford tractors because they were blue and their style of tractor looked like the old tractors. But they are no longer. Deere does make some good products but when it comes to the compacts either you go buy a 3032E or 3038E and you are aroudn $15 to $18 just like everyone else, but the difference is the tractor is lighter, lacks a bunch of feature like a water temp gauge, fuel gauge, the draw bar is an option, low lift capacities, etc.....so if you want something a little nicer in green then you gotta give out some more money. Dealers who may have low invetory really doesnt mean a lot of anything. Really it is that they didnt order enough to begin with or they are in between stock orders. Other color dealers are the same way. THe T1520 really is a great tractor. i wouldnt let a problem keep you from something that really is a good product. THe T1510 and T1520 surprise most people because of their size and their capability. dont give up on it.

The 1920's specs are much closer to the t1530 as far as 3pt lift capacity, 4cyl instead of 3,etc. but they were 33 hp. I now from personal exp. using a 1920 for commercial use over 3000 hrs they are a great tractor. Had to replace the seat and front tires a couple times but otherwise just filters and fluids.

Thanks for the info on Farmtrac... its always good to have the correct information. At this point, I am shopping around a bit. I have not yet given up on NH, but I am very skeptical, more because of the hassles I have had in dealing with NH in trying to resolve this. I am at the point where I can either stress and extend the entire process by going with an attorney or I can eat a few bucks and be done with the ordeal, which is where I am heading as of now. As for the John Deere, I will definitely check them out. I have just always had it in my mind they were more pricey (probably from how I was raised as a kid) and they weren't even worth looking at, but then again, sometimes spending the little extra can also be worth it quality wise... Thanks again! I will let you know how I make out tractor shopping!
