I have always run Stihl Chainsaws and have had nothing but good luck with them. Running a farm I am no professional but at certain times of the year we use them hard. We process 40 to 50 cords of firewood along with saw logs we use around the farm, fence posts, ect. Lately my dealer seams more interested in selling snowmobiles than saws, so I brought one of my stihl's to a saw shop that sells Huskies. During my convesation with the mechanic-owner-dealer I brought up the issue that I was not happy with my service at the other shop but I was in the market for a new large saw. He told me if I wanted to buy the saw down the road he would still service it if I wanted a Stihl. Long story longer I came home with a Husky 372XP today. Run it for a couple of hours this afternoon and seams nice enough. I figured if he was willing to give me that kind of service on someone elses saw, why not give him the business. I still have a funny feeling about the whole situation. I am looking for some of your opinions.

Thanks

Is it the new strato 372 or the old tried and true 372? Way to tell, decomp on top of cylinder cover coming threw orange cover or on side of cylinder and not going through anything?:licking:

Tried and true, side decomp. I've heard real good things about them

A friend of mine (logger) cuts wood at least 3-4 days a week year round, has used Husky exclusively for at least 20 years. On the same saw for the last 10 years. Top notch saws.

We have a dealer that sells Husky and Stihl. Interesting note: this past spring I was looking at a new Stihl string trimmer and he recommended a Kawasaki trimmer which he also sells.

I have always liked the stihls but have only heard good things about the huskys. If I was in your shoes I would have done the same thing. I think you'll love it.

On a pro saw, good service from a dealer can be more important than the brand. I run a stihl, my neighbour husqy. We swap saws now and then just to see the other side of the fence. His anti-vibe is better, I like the balance of mine better, his is tuned for a bit higher rpm than mine and pulls harder when wound out. Mine is set a bit rich and won't rev like his but has more guts mid throttle. His air filter never seems to need cleaning, but its hard to check, requiring disassembly. Mine dirties but is a lever flip away.

Both good saws.

Pro huskys are a lever clip away too. What model stihl husky are you 2 comparing? My pro stihls use a twist button.

Bought a 372XP several years back, and it's a BEAST. I love it.
