i just purchased a yanmar 1700d. great tractor but im still trying to figure a few things out on it. there's a small toggle switch under the instrument cluster in front of where your knees would be. it doesn't look after market but could be. was wondering if any one had any idea what this may be. Also on the right side of the seat there's a lever. It's not the PTO. that's on the left side was wondering if any one knew what this lever may be? Any help would be greeeeeaaaatly appreciated Thanks,
Todd

Sounds like someone added a switch for a work light or other function, not sure what it's for. Could the lever be your differential lock? Does it have a round foot actuated pedal?

edit** Sorry re-read your post. The lever by your seat on the right side?? Does it control your lift arms (raise and lower)?
If it is not hydraulic but mechanical, it may be something that worked with a tiller.

Don't know about the switch, (what does it do?), or if the lever doesn't do anything obvious, it probably controls front wheel drive.

sorry guys and gals I really should have thought about that one. I should have included pics. I will as soon as possible. I know the lever on the right beside the seat doesn't controll hydrolics. That's up by my right hand inside the fender. This lever is about at my right heel and comes from under the seat area. Any way i tried the switch and I can't tell it does a darn thing hahaha. Could be for aux. lights. I'll try to take some pics when i get a chance. I appreciate all the help. Thanks much.

I believe the lever on the right is the diff. lock. At least it is on my 1820.

R heel = differential lock.

You're probably right about the switch being for lights or something like that. You might have to do it the hard way and trace the wires coming out of the switch and see where they go /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It could be the Hi and Lo gears.

Hi todda323, here is what my differential lock lever looks like. Mine is a 2210, so it might be a little different, but it is right behind my right heel. I use it to lock the rear wheels for extra traction.
