I looked at this post, as I wondered what a tractor driver wants suspenders for, is he going out on a drag night or some other reason. Then the penny dropped as suspenders this side of the pond means, a frilly belt affair with clips that women wear to hold up their nylon stockings. Your side it means to me, braces to hold up your trousers [pants].

What we refer to as a garter belt for the woman folk to wear which unfortunately has gone out of style for many.

What a wealth of suspender information! That side clip thing is very interesting, especially with respect to sparing furniture from scratches.

The problem I have is that my elastic suspenders lose their elasticity over time (i.e. they stretch), so eventually I'm adjusting the loop so that the adjustment is on or over my shoulder.

Do they make non-elastic suspenders that won't stretch? How do you adjust them or measure them for fit? (I'm 6' 3").

Here in England, we can get braces [suspenders] made of leather. They tend to stretch a little when new, but then settle down as far as their length. They last years.

A garter belt here is the frilly ring that the bride takes off the top of her leg and throws to the bridesmaids.
Cockies also use baling twine to hold their pants up.

I must be getting old when I'm following threads about suspenders. Carry on gents, I'm almost there. I'm about to make my last fitness push and then I'm resigning myself to it is what it is. Wish me luck.
