Supper, Dinner, or both?

What do you have?
Being from semi rural N. Calif, we have dinner. Never understood "supper".

You eat supper when it is dark outside. It's dinner when you have money, if you don't it's just 12 o'clock.

Dinner is what some consider lunch. But we use these terms interchangeably.

Supper, to us, is the evening meal.
