Kubota L3830 03: RTV 900
I have several ?'s
1. What is a good substitue for super UDT.
2. Do all you guys follow the maintenance interval chart that came with your tractor.(those who bought new).
3. My dealer is asking 15.90 for S-UDT per gal. that is almost 300 bucks for the tractor and I also have an RTV.
4. How many of you have just changed the filter and put the same oil back in.
5. I have the GST tranny.

I just did my 50 hr. oil change etc. with "UDT". Bottom line is, "Kubota Warrantee", Kubota oil - SUDT / UDT. The only tip that I can offer is that when you are doing the front axle (I have an L3400) that you jack up the front end and remove the wheels to drain the fluid, put a 1/2 " 90 degree pipe elbow into the fill port with a funnel to replace the fluid.

There are performance differences between fuilds. Once you get beyond your 50hr service that fuild says in there for 300 hours on most machines. I'd spend the extra $20 for the better fuild. There is a performance difference, especialy with the RTV.

There will be a significant performance increase using the Super UDT in the winter. The hydraulics will operate better at colder temps and the tranny will as well.

As for the maintenance schedule, I stick with it +-10%. I don't fret if I'm 10% past the number of hours specified for a service interval. But I DO what ever the interval calls for.

I'm using the multiweight Amsoil ALH Synthetic hydraulic fluid, but the Chevron or PetroCanada synthetic hydraulic fluid is just as good. The key factor for a GST or HST transmission is "MultiWeight" in order to allow the proportional valves to operate properly throughout their operational temperature range, as the flow range of the straight UDT cannot even begin to come close to the flow rate of the SUDT all the way up to 200*F.

It makes zero sense to change the hydraulic oil and NOT the hydraulic oil filter, as it does to change the filter and not the oil.....

It is almost time to do the 400 hr service on my l3130 hst and have been using the super udt.
is any the other synthic oil that is not as costly as the super udt?

From what I can tell the SUDT has better performance at low and high temps for better lubrication at the start. Also from other post it appears it is quiter in HST type transmission than UDT. Aparently UDT is a single viscosity and SUDT a multiviscosity. Neither one is a synthetic oil although the SUDT is priced like a sythetic.

Super udt here. It is big money, however, so was my tractor. Kubota says i need to use sudt in my B3030 HSDC so im going to follow their specs.

I think you are right, with the cost of the tractors and the work that I have done with it use the right oil that came with my tractor when I bought it is a small price to pay

I looked for a substitute for the sudt for my L3130. Chevron all season tractor hydraulic fluid (synthetic) came close but was more expensive than the SUDT.
I finally went with the SUDT for my 50 hr and 400 hr service interval.

Good luck if you can find a cheap substitute....I never did.
