I hate to break it to you, but to pull the front cover, you need to drop the front wheel assy. I have no idea what you have to work in, or with, but a cheap engine hoist, setting on a sheet of plywood, if you don't have a shop/garage with a concrete floor, would handle the front wheel assy., and allow you to pull it back far enough to get in to work on it. And some cribbing, or large jack stands to support the rest of it.
