Looking to tow a 1023E John Deere with a FEL and rear blade.

I want to tow it with a 2008 Chevy Colorado, 4x4, crew cab

Going about 120miles each way

The Silverado has close to 300,000 miles and want to avoid using it if possible.

Tractor is only 1,400 lbs I'm told .. want to buy a small trailer and looking for suggestions and thoughts on if the Colorado is ok.

What is the tow rating on your Colorado? Figure 600# for the FEL, 250# for a light rear blade, and 1400# for a trailer.

Even with chains, etc you should be able to come in at 4000#

Make sure you buy a trailer with electric brakes.

I have a Kubota BX2350, and its almost the same size as what you have. Its amazing how long they get with a FEL and a rear blade. I can't tell you the exact length of mine but it fills up most of my 18 foot trailer. Maybe the overall length would be around 15'. That's probably too long for any kind of single axle trailer. A 16' tandem axle I would think would be the minimum. I'd say Diamond Pilots weight numbers are close.

Thats pretty close IMO. Our B7500 with a FEL and a tiller is ~2' too long for our 6x10 trailer.

Truck is likely up to the task assuming you have the proper trailer.... like it was posted above... tandem axle 16' with functioning brakes... proper chains/straps...

I had a Colorado 4 X 4 5 cyl when I got my BX25. It weighs 1500 + FEL and BH, another 500#. I had a 2 axel 16' trailer. That trailer had the truck all over the road. Was real scary above 45 MPH. Now I have a heavier/longer trailer and a Dodge 450. That combo is a dream, don't even know it is back there. I decided on a 450 as I plan to get a 10K bulldozer in the near future. I am sure a Silverado (assuming you are a Chevy guy) 1/2 ton would do you tractor if that is all you ever plan to haul. I know my first trailer was part of the problem but I felt the Colorado was just two light. Tow capacity of the truck, tongue weight by the trailer and trailer weight are all part of the equation.
