With a 26mm socket and ratchet wrench from the rear.
I think I have spotted the strainer, do I need to remove the rear wheel, If its the plug I think it is I cant see any other way to get to it. If I raise the tractor with the outrigger to remove the wheel, will the tractor drop when I remove the
strainer plug.. I didnt clean the strainer at 50 hrs, will i loose alot of fluid when I pull it out.

No, you do not have to remove rear wheel to remove strainer. I cleaned mine at 50 hours and it was bad, but I never tried removing the plug with hyd fluid still in there. I drained hyd fluid first, removed filter and then removed plug. Good question though. I would say it will all drain out but that is me.

When I did my BX22, I removed the rear wheel to make it easier. The 26 mm hex head was really frozen and painted over, so I needed all the elbow room I could get. BTW, removing the rear wheel was a snap. With a jack stand under the axle, I had plenty of room to work ...plus it allowed me to position my rather wide oil drain pan under the tranny. Sometimes trying to save time has the opposite effect.
It took me some searching to find the plug. But a 1/2 drive socket and long handle fit to break it loose. To identify it, kneel at the left rear and follow the pipe up - it should go to a hose (at least on my BX-22). The strainer is long, but will come out by sliding it into the wheel space. Taking the wheel off is probably a good idea though, so you can look in. My strainer was very clean - only a few tiny bits. I too think all the fluid is history if you pull it without draining. Why not clean your drain pan(s) and just put it back after?
