Suction Filter

Good morning,

This past summer I installed a ZINGA 25 GPM suction side filter to go with my pump that is 17 GPM at 2000 RPM. I also installed a spin on replaceable air filter for the tank breather. I have a gauge that I can monitor from my seat, It originally ran vacuum in the 0 to 10 range, now even with a fresh filter, just past idle its at 10. Red zone starts at 11. Weather was in the 80's to 90's when installed. Now its in the 40's to 78's. I would think if it is weather related the fluid would heat up with use, but then again I do not know how long that might take. Could be the gauge or a bad batch of filters. This has happened with the last 2 filters and before I introduced the backhoe to the circuit. Not sure how to sort this out. Also not sure how high the vacuum can go before it can cause pump problems.

Yes the fluid temperature - viscosity will increase the vacuum required to draw oil through the filter. Also as a filter gets dirty the pressure drop increases.

Is the new filter element that same micron rating as the original filter?

No clue on what is the max rated vacuum at the inlet of your pump.

Yes gauges can be bad.

Yes same filter / rating. Since the post I found out Eaton says 11.5 in and Prince says 5 in. Waiting on my pump manufactures info.
I thought about it since the post and used my mity-vac which could also be wrong. Miti-vac = 10, gauge = 12. Same higher and lower. So while it is off that is not the issue. I will try and warm it up longer and see.

Are you useing Zinga brand filters? Have you tryed a better brand. I have the same filter setup from surpluscenter on my log splitter. I replaced that filter with a fleetguard and the fleet guard was by far a bettet filter. Even the metal is thicker.
