I wish I had written down the pump brand I replaced at my last place. At 275 feet deep in iron rich water, I got 20 years out of it. At around 15 years, the well head got hit by lightning. (The head was about 20 feet away from our bedroom, I liked to have jumped 3 feet in the air) When I finally crawled out, I had no water. With fingers crossed, I headed for the box. The breaker reset and I had water.
I recommend using plastic spacers on the well pipe to keep the pipe and wiring away from the casing.
Lastly, don't scrap out any replaced water pressure tanks. A little work and they make a great chiminea (fire pit). After all your hard work, sit around the chiminea with a couple of beverages and congratulate yourself on a job well done, lol!

Fracking may seem like a lifeline to some with marginal wells!
Apparently, the biggest concern is some of the chemicals pumped down the (fracking) bores and the possibility of them leeching into the ground water.
If the companies follow all the safety precautions, this shouldn't be a problem. But sometimes safety gets in the way of profits.

I have seen a Crude Oil contaminated water well.
I have also seen water wells containing methane. In fact I had one. No contamination from the hydro carbon industry.
I have also watched "Fire Down Below".
And some of the Anti Fracking websites. Their documentation had me confused.
