I have a large wooded tract for recreation and hunting. I've got an acre or so that we clear cut several years ago and now it has a good stand of grass on it but the stumps are still there, about 30 stumps anywhere from 6 inches to 30 inches but mostly under 20 inches diameter. I want to get them down to ground level so I can run the bush hog over them or drive the truck across the field. I don't necessarily care about getting them below ground I just don't want to have to mow around them or to hit one in high grass. Obviously I don't want to pay $100 or $200 apiece to get rid of them the way you would with one in your front lawn. In my experience trying to cut a stump to ground level with a chainsaw will just get you a ruined chainsaw. Any suggestions?

I would hire someone with a huge dozer and rock rake. In a matter of a couple hours they would be history and neatly stacked in a desired location. I have hired the small 60-80 hp machines in the past. They spend time, cost money, and get little done in the results catagory. Good luck.
