Well, pictures are worth a thousand words. Steeper than it looks. Was trying to open up a run off from a pond. Found it had been blocked up enough to saturate the ground, but it was too late. Backed into a stump and could not go forward. Could not pull myself out with the dipper. Tried the quad with a winch. nothing

Wife came down, said why don't you cut the stump and back out. Cut the stump, backed out. It always takes someone else to set me straight.

Please note in the first photograph how the side of the tractor is coated in mud, yet the seat looks amazingly clean.

What did the operator look like? :)

I have been stuck in mud before to the point of having the flat bottom of the tractor being held up by the mud but it has never looked as wet as that. Lucky you had the mini hoe attached to help push you.

You're supposed to reply "Why don't you ******!!!" then wait for her to leave, THEN cut the stump.

Hmmm.... second thought, maybe that's not a good idea. Thanks her for her keen observation and buy her some flowers.

Ken, my wife is not that small.

Get it?

Mini hoe?

I am here every Friday night ladies and gentlemen.

Whoa! Shocking you could not pull yourself up/forward with the hoe... Looking at those pics, I would not have guessed that backing out would have been a possibility after removing the stump.

On paper it would seem the hoe would help (she did, just kidding, moving on....). Anyway, The dipper arm is long for my PT. I think it is a foot longer than the one PT sells. So getting it in a position of leverage wasn't really possible. Also, To get any traction, I needed to get the dipper on solid ground. Saddly the bog was big and no matter how far I cranked to either side I was in the bog. It would have helped backing out, I could have pushed myself backwards, but gravity and persistence got me out. It does not show, but I am probably at a 17 to 20 degree pitch.

Also, I am not a great user of the dipper. It has never worked as well as it could or should for me. I did run a 50 ft trench 4 feet deep with it. That gave me some serious confidence which I was lacking.

Obviously you were going too slow when entering the bog, if you kept at your normal 50-60 mph mowing speed, im sure you would have hydroplaned right across.
