Stuck Truck

/ Stuck Truck #21
Wish I had a photo of a truck in a somewhat similar situation. The rig was up an embankment just like that only with no tracks up top. It was on the PA turnpike in a construction zone. They had set up the shoulder as a driving lane and there was this bridge with dip in the pavement just before the bridge. I figure the driver was maybe not familiar with what I considered to be a recipe for a disaster and hit it in the dark.

Getting that truck unloaded and off of that bank would have made a good clip for "Wrecked".

As for the photo leading into this thread, lucky no train came along.

Truck stuck on railroad tracks -- Brandon, MB

According to the person who sent this, the driver has only been in
Canada a few months. He had missed his turn by Brandon Mb. And figured
he could go over the hill and continue on the road
. he didn't know there
were rail tracks on top of the grade..... The truck owner figures he had
to hit the angle at over 55 miles an hour in order to make the top.

Several variations of the story are there, too.
I dunno, just doesn't jive. Truck drivers stick to blacktop, unless they lose control on ice, or swerve to avoid something or someone in the roadway.

Except for the one here in PA. last year that drove halfway across a frozen lake before the ice broke beneath him.

I used to drive straight trucks that when fully loaded might weigh a quarter of what that rig in the picture did, but would never even consider doing something that stupid. As Bugs Bunny would have uttered: "WHAT A MAROON"

He did not actually do what the supposed story says he did. There is no way that cab hit the bottom of that hill at 55mph and somehow arrived at the top unscathed. Firstly, that just isn't going to happen. Secondly, if the cab HAD started up the slope from the bottom, the upper rear of the sleeper would have smashed into the upper front of the trailer box.

Say, that's a good point. The back tires on the tractor were smashed up into the front of the trailer, that would fit the picture ok but seems like what you said about the cab not being damaged...

Maybe Scotty had too much Romulan ale and beamed it there by accident?

The fourth picture in the links posted by bcp and RobertBrown might tell the story. In the background you can see vehicles on a road which is either a T junction or right-angle 90 degree turn as you approach the tracks. Perhaps the driver missed the turn in the dark or fell asleep?

Here's the photo:

Agree. It seems unreal. No one is that foolish.
