Stuck shear bolt remnants

Folks -

I seem to have snapped off one of the shear bolts holding the augur to the shaft of my kubota snowblower (B2782 if it matters). I guess I must have been continuing to work for awhile, 'cause the snow was pretty packed in on that side when I stopped.

Anyhow, I can't seem to get the remaining piece of the shear pin out. I can wiggle it around a bit, and rotate it a bit with a little metal pick, but it doesn't seem to want to come out. I tried to whack it with a nail set and a mallet without success.

Anyone with suggestions? I tried to do a search, but either this isn't a common problem or my search techniq

I believe you are still asking a question. When a shear bolt gets to drive for some time on only half of its self it gets ( S ) shaped in the hole. Sometimes the outer drive sleeve gets burred. You need to drill out what you can without damaging the shaft or sleeve. use a sharp good quality drill and try to pick up the center of the pin. If you run the drill in reverse at the beginning that helps to center the drill. I learned this trick from machinists. Don,t break the drill off in the shaft. The other method is to use a quality straight pin punch and hope that you will be able to ( BASH ) it through, I have found this to be 50/50.
