Did these guys burn up their winch like it looks or is their excuse that water was steaming off of the radiator stand up. If it was water I would expect it to be steaming the entire time. However, it appears to only smoke when he is trying to winch the Ranger out of the mud hole. These kids really do look like this is the first time they have played in the mud.

Any utv would have a rough time in that hole at that speed.

That doesnt look like steam to me.

That is one deep hole. But I agree if it were steam it would have been coming off it right about the time he stopped not conveniently when he started winching.

I tend to think that they done something to their winch. That thing was struggling to get that Ranger out of that hole. They may have gotten a "good deal" on an ATV winch thinking it would handle the Ranger.

I was thinking the same thing, save a few dollars but pay for it when you finally need it:(

Skip, I didn't mean to imply that was an easy hole to drive thru. It was just from their hesitation to even attempt to go thru there and then their hesitation when the finally tried to go thru. They just didn't look comfortable.

Of course those tires didn't help them any as they plugged right up immediately.

I see that with a roller fairlead and pulling at an angle, all the wire went on one side and jammed up from being full on one side. Somebody should make a LEVEL WIND for these like on a fishing reel
and he should have taken the HIGH ROAD like his buddy did LOL

I understand. :) Once your committed you need to hit it hard.. I can't knock there driving, I've been in similar situations.
I've learned about the cheap winchs, I had a 3500lb gorilla that was a poor performer to say the least.

anybody notice what tires he was a running >>>>> they sure slicked up quick >>>>>>

Also noticed, that the feller riding shotgun, just stepped out on hard ground. why didn't he take that route ?

Yes, when it comes to winches, you get what you pay for, just like a insurance policy !!!!!

Heck, since the winch was having a time pulling this machine, why didn't he use the snatch-bloc ~~~~ it was there !!!!!

yea he had some amature tires. and he sure was a amature driver.lol you gonna go muddin you need the tires and the knowhow them look like some mudlights and thats what they good for light mud .lmao if you got the right tire you don't have to nail the peddle to the floor to get through it that only diggs you in further and if your tires suddenly stop the shafts keep spinnin meaning you end up breakin a shaft.

/ Stuck Ranger #13
cause he was a first timer. lol he'll learn after a while that you need more that just a cheap winch and so!so tires and true 4 wheel drive to get you through the mud. now he got burned up equipment and dirty clothse to show for it but hey i bet he had fun.lol

after lookin at the vid some more it was probabbly his radiator steamin because the winch still kept pullin. but i had to comeback and give him credit for atleast goin in da hole .lol. if the winch would have gottin hot it would have smoked not steamed right?and that was steam from the radiator . he tried though. plus he did have a nice size box in the bed too.

/ Stuck Ranger #15
I don't see how you can conclude it is steam from the radiator... If it was going to steam it would do it pretty quick, it seems far to much of coincidence that it start steaming right when he started winching.

/ Stuck Ranger #16
i just don't think it was the winch. i mean if the winch was gonna shortout it would smoke and that wasn't smoke that was steam now he could have started to over heat and that could have been steam comin out the radiator . the radiator is right up front on them . but if the winch would have shorted out to me it would have smoked and then that would have blown a fuse . listen to the sound of the engine from when he went in to when he came out it sounds like that engine is havin trouble and is running very bad after he has it out the mud. so i would say the steam is from the radiator maybe a overflow valve it not maybe he blew the cap off or it's boiling out the cap???

water-cooled winch ? :p

>>>> Might of been a Gremlin smoking a cigarette !!! Heck, I cannot really tell >>>>>

I've burned up winches before on the farm, and I don't remember ever seeing smoke, or if it was smoking, it wasn't like that , you would smell it burning right before it went kuplunk ~~~~

/ Stuck Ranger #18
the radiator is right behind the winch on the ranger i think it's steam as long as he was circulating the water by giving it gas he was doing ok but when he lets off the peddle thats when it starts to steam up . the water just ain't movin enough to keep it cool.

Watched it a couple more times >>>> Looks like it is steam puffing out of the grill. Stop the film and go frame by frame .....

Tommy how do you know it wasn't smoke? Last I knew smoke could look very much like steam... It doesn't have to short out either it could just be over stressed...

i mean if the winch was gonna shortout it would smoke and that wasn't smoke that was steam
