The SIL bought a JD 3032E a year or so ago. It had been used for snow removal and salt spreading. It came with a rusted up spreader, which we sold. The salty use took a toll on everything in the rear, with bad corrosion.

Being the Fix-It Guy, it is up to me to keep most of their stuff working. I could never get the hydro dipstick out. With it not having any hydro problems/noises, I just added a quart of Hy-Gard and kept working at it when I could (they're 30 miles away). I sprayed PB blaster and tried twisting, pulling etc, but it only bent up and didn't budge.

He brought it over the other day, for an attempt to replace the seat with a suspension seat. Long story - but it was a failed attempt. Since it was here for a day anyway, I went after that dipstick.

Vice-grip, pry bar, spray and hours soaking, it finally started to come out. The steel rod only pulled out, leaving the rubber bit. I spun a lag screw into it and it (surprisingly) pulled right out. I'll use a bronze barrel brush to clean the hole some. It's ruined but its out. Guess how much Mother Deere wants for a lowly dipstick? $56 + tax. Nothing on eBay, Amzn or any luck on used searches. At least it's free shipping with the JD one. Grrr.
