Sadler,

Your post brings back memories as I did the same thing with my 4410 almost 2 years ago. I didn't get any pics, but I too had the chassis sitting on the mud and only managed to dig a bigger hole trying to use the FEL to push my way back out.

My solution involved a set of come-alongs and about 300' of chain to tie up to the closest tree. Luckily, a friend had most of the chain available. I've never been that stuck before, and I don't plan on being that stuck again. Glad you made it out.

Looking at your tires, I think you should have bought the tires without the mud between the lugs. You get better traction that way.

Any problems accessing the position control or 3rd SCV control with the arm rests?

I've been contemplating them, but the fenders sem to do well for me on the mid chassis machines...

I cant wait till spring so I can try the mud and see if I can have this much fun in the mud as I do in the snow with my JD

Been working every night, sorry for the delay in answering a few of these:
John, you're a pro compared to me in RC planes. Maybe when I retire I'll have more time. That is such a great hobby. For you tractor guys, if you want another relaxing and very interesting hobby, give RC airplanes a try. It's not that expensive or hard to get started, but above all get lessons before you fly that plane to save yourself a crash.

Yep, nothing I could do would get me out. As I think back, curling the bucket didn't seem to do much of anything. Moving the bucket stick left and right gave essentially zero movement of the tractor but did wallow out a bucket wide slit in the mud a few inches fore and aft. I could easily lift the front wheels out of the mud with the bucket lift, but that didn't help. They just spun in the air.

I should calculate the rearward force that the bucket curl can exert, given the cylinder sizes and hydraulic pressure, the offset distance, etc. Maybe someone has already done this. I bet it ends up pretty low compared to the force required to push 3 plates 6" wide by say 24" tall each horizontally through mud (the three sunk tires).

I'll try to take some photos of the holes left after the tractor came out. They're pretty huge.

Kennedy--I'll shoot a pic tomorrow or Saturday of it cleaned up. It is much cleaner after than before I got it stuck. It was like doing pennance, cleaning that tractor. I was determined to get every speck off, I think just so I felt exonerated. I bet I spent 1.5 hours just hosing the mud off. I did it in the grass to keep from slime-ing the driveway and had to move the tractor three times to keep from creating a mud hole from the sloughed off mud and from all the water that was sprayed on the ground. First time I moved it I drove it right through the mud I had sprayed off and repacked the treads with the same mud I had just sprayed off! A pressure washer would have been nice.

Kennedy--that's a very astute question. As a matter of fact, yes the position lever for the three point hitch did rub the right armrest and for awhile I dragged it over vinyl with difficulty. Finally one day, I looked down and said to heck with this, and just carefully bent the lever away from the armrest. After several "bendings", I got it just far enough away that it didn't spring back too far, and since I've not had any problems. The bend doesn't seem to hurt any of the function of the lever, and I do use the position stop and that still works fine.
