Tractor
Kioti LK3054
Was working my tractor today, nothing out of the ordinary. 643hrs. 45°F.

I took the tractor down the road to another field. I was in 4th but wasn't running top speed. When I came back I heard this strange sucking sound. It only happens around 1100rpm.
Here is a video I took.

Any ideas?

Tough to tell from video. Do you have the aluminum pump? Do you have pressure? Do hydraulics work? Wonder if pump is going bad? Any external leak? Did you check fluid level? I know the aluminum pumps were prone to failure. You can check with a magnet.

Unfortunately it is an aluminum pump.

Have you serviced the hydraulic filter

Sounds like cavitation.... check your suction screen. And piping to the pump

I also believe it's cavitation. Probable cause is air leaking into inlet line, and/or restriction causing fluid to 'boil' on low pressure side of pump. Change or flush filter and inspect housing. Those little bubbles will erode the inside housing and gears of your pump. I had to change out my aluminum pump, but after 2000+ hours and I noticed the hydraulics were getting sluggish and weak. Your aluminum pump should last a long time once you figure out this problem.

I agree with others probably cavitation. But if you end up needing a pump they offer a upgrade for your tractor to 10 GPM Pump. I did that upgrade on my 2554 and it made all the difference in the world with my hydraulics. I can get you the part number if you need it.

I have changed the filter last year. I haven't used tractor much since. I'll service the hydraulics and see if it stops. K5lwq, yes i would like to have that number if it's not too much trouble. Thank you all!

Here is a write up I did on my pump. Hydraulic pump.

The second post has the correct part number. Good luck!

K5,

Any chance you'd still have packing list or complete part number list of pump, bolts, gaskets, etc.? My dealer does not seem too familiar with this upgrade.

I would have to look. If I remember correctly the pump had the bolts and o-rings with it and I ordered them as well so ended up with extra.

If you call Michigan Iron they are familiar with the upgrade Kit.

I am on the road this week so will not be home till Sunday.

Update.

That noise is not coming from the hydraulic pump. It's coming from the power steering pump. I've seen one thread on here about the pump. There are no definitive details about what they used. Anyone replaced their pump or found a kubota substitute?

Do you have a picture of the pump? I was not aware of a separate power steering pump on these.

Okay, I am following you now. You only have the one pump for all of your hydraulics.

The first picture is of the priority/diverter valve. This is what feeds your power steering and front loader. It makes sure you have power to the steering first. It also contains a pressure relief valve that is bypassed when you have a loader installed by turning the diverter valve all the way clockwise. This looks like your setup.

The second picture would be of the power steering valve. It has it's own pressure relief valve on the side of it.

I listened again to your video. It still sounds like cavitation but could just be from air getting into the system. Maybe look closely at the rubber hose that feeds the pump. If it is pulling air, it would travel to steering valve making a noise.

Awesome, thank you! I'll do some checking. It only does it if I drive on road. I own another property that takes me an hour to drive tractor too. That's when it's the worst.
