Stihl MS250 mixture screws?

It actually still runs pretty strong at full throttle. I looked at my records and the saw is 13 years old. I will probably get a new saw, looking at a Stihl MS261. I retire in about 4 weeks and may mess with the 250 then and try and repair it. I am a little shocked at just how cheap the parts are on Amazon.

Yeah, Keep it and do a re-store once you retire. Fun and rewarding to tear one down and re-store it. I did an 034 Super and it turned out great. It's amazing how much oil soaked sawdust hides behind the covers.

I wish I had an idea of how many hours were on my MS250. Its a little over 13 years old, and it may sit for six months and get used for just a little bit, or I may run it several hours in a week. I'm still not sure what happened to it to score the piston. I suspect overworked with a dull chain.

I do not have to worry about a rebuild right away. Bought a MS 261 at lunch today. Pic of the new saw with the old on in the background.

A little update on the new saw, it’s a step up from the MS250. I’ve run 4 or 5 tanks of fuel through. I’m having to adjust to the extra power. With my old saw if I was cutting anything of size I just held it wide open. With the 261 I have the feather the throttle at times so I don’t over rev it.

A question, do chains have to be broken in? I usually hand file and it seems to be cutting better the more I use it with the shavings getting bigger. It’s the green safety captain if that matters.

Chains dont' need to break in. Your hand filing might be better than the factory grind. If so, congratulations! That's pretty good!

The saw engine does break in though. Stihl says it takes about 5 tanks to be fully broken in.
