Stihl Chainsaw

Appreciate everyone who gave a genuine response and not all the baiters (masters).

Collection was a strong word but am a real chainsaw noob and after the help this page has given me previously I just wanted to ask the question.

Apologies!
Hey I wasn’t a “baiter” (master). I showed the black helicopters because of all the conspiracy theorists. 😂
I have (3) Stihl saws.
500i, 261C, and 194T.

All have been great. List your model # so we can be of better assistance.

Feeling guilty perhaps?

Nobody was being intentionally rude. I am an IT professional so it's not only my job to identify possible online scams, it's built into me after 30 years in this profession. And your post had more than one indicator of a scam because it was 1.) your very first post, 2.) not the subject matter of the community you joined, 3.) pretty vague question you asked with no clear understanding of what exactly you were wanting to know.

So with that said, what exactly would you like to know? Are Stihl chainsaws good? Some are, some aren't. Do you have a particular one in mind?

Why I rarely, if ever, ask a question on a public forum, simply because of the range of answers and comments. If one does, they always have to be prepared to distill all the answers as pertinent or just 'fluff'.... :p

I have a 15 year old ms170. Starts without question. Wonderful little saw. I have a 25 year old 029 that was abused on our farm for years. Needs work because I don't use it but it will start and run. My father has a newer 270. Hates it. Not near the quality of the older saws. Guess its a mixed bag really. Personally I feel any of the major brands have lowered quality for "homeowner" level saws. If I were buying a new homeowner level saw I would buy an echo.

We have some paranoid old men around here...

Don't worry, most days they try to not be expressive about it.
Don’t be lumping me in the “old, paranoid” category.
I’m young and was having fun making fun of the paranoid guys. ;)

I wasn't. But the above was kind of a bit of paranoia about being old.

As with any publically viewed forum, asking a question will ALWAYS illicit a variety of responses, some germane to the question and some not. How a forum works and that holds true with any forum, not just this one.

I don't consider any reply to be baiting, just responses and nothing more and as the asker, you have to accept or reject what you deem necessary and what you don't.
Completely agree, just made me laugh is all. No hate peace and love

Hey there feller.

For reference, looking at the MS range but the prices go a bit crazy.

That being said I want something that's gonna do a good job and not go bang after hitting a snag or 2.

Really like the look the look of the light 04 bars so probably thinking an MS 261
