I just let my dad borrow the tractor to cut down a pine tree and all of the controls are sticky from the sap. What should I use to clean it that won't hurt the plastic on the controls?

When I go pine nut collecting, I use bacon grease to get the sap off my hands. Not sure if this would hurt the plastics or not.......

Diesel works even on hood steering wheel.

WD-40 ,I don't use for anything else but it makes a great cleaner........Craig

X2 on WD40, cuts the sap like nothing.

Turpentine also works very well on sap. It is made from the same stuff as the sap (well, sort of) so it dissolves it into the liquid.

I've been using kerosene.

WD40 works well. Using a pure solvent lifts the sap, but then when it evaporates the sap get re-deposited. WD40 has some oil that stops the sap from re-sticking.

Leave the sap on it.
Gives you a good firm grip that won't slip.
Just like using rosin on your baseball bat. ;)
