For what its worth, I used to hunt hogs with a guide who used a .243. He didn't seem to have any problem putting them down. His wife, who might have weighed 100 lb., used her grandfather's .30-30, which was so old the buttplate had been replaced with a piece of an old tire, tread & all.
I watched her take 5 pigs with 5 shots while standing in the back of a pickup truck, all in about 10 seconds. No, it wasn't moving.
I have taken 6 with a knife and shot a few others, but the knife is more exciting.
