I have a JD X500 Lately when the steering seams to be sticking. What I mean by that is when I am going straight it gets stiff and doesn't want to turn then all of a sudden it will let me turn turn any Ideas on what it is?

I had the same thing on my Kubota 2910, but it only happened when it was hot. I switched to synthetic hydraulic fluid and that took care of the problem.

Have you checked your oil level.

It is manual on a x500 so what would the oil level's have to do with it?

Since its manual steering check for front end parts such as tie rod ends king pins frozen up or in need of lubrication. you would have to disconnect steering box linkage to determine if problem is in sector.
