Steering is out

talked to Terry. He said it is one of the two cylinders performing the steering is out. He said to rebuild both. This makes me happy that it is not my steering control.

Terry is overnighting the parts so I can have the rest of my week...

Anyone have a picture essay on how to do this? He said it is easy, but I am a so novice at this hydraulics stuff....

we did it on a customers site, didn't even bring the pt home.

With two people u can leave the cylinders on the pt, just unbolt the shiny end (this is the part which unscrews out of the cylinder housing).
One needs to hold the housing with a pipe wrench while the other unscrews the cylinder nut. Then it slides out, install the new plunger and seals, put it all together, and there u go.
We didn't need to bleed it out or anything.

Without two people, you'll probably need to pull the cylinders off and put them in a vice as you rebuild them.

Should take about 10 minutes per cylinder.

Saddly I left my camera on the tractor when I ran into town. Could have kicked my self cause I was so insistant on making sure you guys had photos of the process...

Many thanks for your information on the Steering Valve. I had mine apart to eliminate excessive looseness, by removing the plastic partial shaft bushing, and installing a full length Oilite Bushing, much better now While making this correction I noticed there was no means of Identification again. Again thank you for the Hydraguide info, it is always good to have some means of I D.
