Steel loop/hoop for a tow chain; where can I get one?

Is there something wrong with just taking it around a trailer ball and hooking back to the chain with the grab hook? I've been doing that for years. That's only when I don't have enough slack to go around the ball and reach over to the welded on grab hooks on the box scraper. My bucket and log fork have large slide hooks in the center and grab hooks on each corner. I use these the same way as the ball and hooks on the box blade.

The 3/8 and 5/16 are the same size, only thing different is the 3/8 is thicker, I thought it had a bigger opening but it doesn't.
I keep the clevis link chain on the tractor at all times with a grab hook on the other end. you can see a latching grab hook in the pic, also from aw direct.

The clevis link is perfect for tractor pulling tasks.

I was going to suggest AW Direct. They have a wide selection of everything for towing and ship quickly. I've placed a couple of orders from them for chains and binders.

This link as them in grade 80 because they are designed for lifting.

Never heard that term, but I think that is euro or something, it's rated in metric tons and lists it's breaking strength, which we don't do here as far as I know. What they are calling G80 in 3/8" at 6600 pound WLL is what AW Direct calls G40 with the same WLL ?
Both specs are odd since G70 chain is 6600, G80 is higher.

They look good and solid though and a little cheaper than AW Direct

Nothing I guess, I personally never pull from a trailer hitch ball myself, for fear of causing unseen stress/ damage.

I had to go out and try that clevis ring for OP to see if it would fit the 2" ball, since I never even tried it before. But I do pull from hook adapter in a receiver hitch, the clevis ring stays on one end of a couple of my chains, since it is the easiest way to just drop in on the hook, or easy to slip the chain thru it like a choker.

Many of my chains have 2 different ends, but all have at least 1 grab hook.

Short Game: Yes, I could do that, and have, but it comes undone occasionally. Not a huge deal, but would be nice & easy to just toss the ring over the ball.

Considering that most trailer balls are of heavier construction than the chains and hooks we're considering here, I won't sweat it and figure I'm okay the way I've been doing it.

Probably right, but it gives me a reason to buy all those insert gadgets
