It was impressive that they had a good enough reputation that they actually got people to float them money (ie, paying for orders before manufacturing). Building just-in-time using customer money is a great model if you can swing it, but I doubt they'll manage it a second time.
It's likely that a lot if things will be different if they do try to start again. Replacement of the owner as figurehead with somebody who has clean hands would be a big start.

Not a Ted fan, but do still like their original products.

The risk to watch for is if they cut quality, components and design to become another low cost, fast production manufacturer to try and recover.

Kind of like new Troy Bilt tillers are not really a "Troy Bilt".

He F'D me out of 3 grand. I paid by check. I wonder if he'll make good on it by sending me another attachment? How long should I hold my breath?
It would be interesting if you would call him on Monday and ask as he says he will be there. I would be asking for a refund.

Interesting. I wonder how many former employees will return.

Never bought from them. I am too cheap and the less expensive stuff has worked well so far. Plus, I like getting what I want in a couple of weeks.

The employees moved on...they would have to.
Ted would now first and foremost be sure everyone gets their money back for non delivered orders. Then rescind the "pay now get attachment later" policy, especially if they no longer ship merchandise. Then hire proving they manufacture quality attachments.
Trying to overcome negative reviews and an "F" BBB rating to me seems insurmountable.

I know and agree that there was terrible mismanagement at EA. I know !!

BUT, every time I rip rocks out of the earth with my over built EA box blade, I smile. And then I hope that they manage a come-back.
I appreciate the innovation and structural design that made them shine above the competition. They did have something special going on, and hopefully can again in the future!

I feel the same about my EA back blade. They HAD a great reputation/workers/steel/welders/designers...on & on.
How do you get that back???
Restoring reputation is a 100ft hurtle!
Actually probably the best would be someone else in charge (selling business may be best or at least new management), then start from scratch...probably a new company name, paying taxes, building, customers (make everyone "whole"), then production (quality, warranty, etc.).
It could be done...a major task.

I guess most companies must be stupid. No one has copied their designs and cashed in on the opportunity.

Maybe they were not making much margin?

They were in business a long time and still had to use customers money to fund day to day inventory/operations. Think about that.

Seen it happen when revenue unsustainably is syphoned off... normally it's the third generation.

Local company developed and marketed worldwide a product that grandpa designed and would sell from the trunk of his car...

Third generation has planes, multiple vacation homes, etc...

The old man would turn over in his grave I think...

Poor management can kill any company except a government enterprise.
