john deer b john deere 4600 international 300
I have a john deere 4600 and it has been having a lot of electrical issues. Now it will not turn over when trying to start it. The battery is good and powerful but it just clicks when I try to start it. I would appreciate any help I can get.

There is always a story behind everything. "a lot of electrical issues". Can you elaborate? What clicks?

I have been having problems with it turning over but not starting. I replaced the fuel solenoid. That didn't help. I checked the safety switches and cleaned the wire where they contacted the switch and it started. Then after several days it started but wouldn't shut off. Thought it was a relay so pulled all of them out and cleaned the terminals and it shut off. Now I try to start it and it just clicks and if I try it several times it smells like a wire getting too hot.

The starter solenoid is what clicks.

Either bad starter cable connections, or simply a bad starter. I have also had to clean up the contacts in a solenoid more than once.

a common problem that will often cause this is the battery ground wire where it connects to the engine/frame will rust and not make a good enough connection to allow the necessary amps for the starter to turn over even if the battery is good. check and clean battery positive and ground connections also.
