245 Case IH
I have a 1986 Case 245 with a starting problem. I can short the solenoid switch with a screw driver and start with no problem. I have replaced the ignition switch and the solenoid and I still have the same problem. Does anyone know of anything else to check.

There are a few safety switches on that model. I'm familiar with the gear model. Range transmission in neutral. PTO off. Possible seat switch. Check to make sure they are closed. Also the ignition is prone to corrosion on the underside. Especially the center terminal. I have replaced mine three times. Once I had a loose connection.
Other issues I have found on these Case / Mitsubishi: Badly corroded battery ground at frame. As the battery cables age they tend to flex and brake. Making intermittent starting issues.
