One thing to double check. Look closely at the positive battery cable. Its clamped to the post up high then there is a thin copper ring below that runs around the post befog it heads down and back to the starter. On mine, the top connection looked great, but the lower ring was corroded badly and cracked - gave me the same symptoms as you and jumping would not work either, until I pushed on the cable got a large arc and saw the break. Might be worth a look.
